South Dakota State University is the state’s largest university—and if you ask us, its best. With South Dakota’s most comprehensive range of academic offerings, there’s no better place to explore everything from aerospace to zoology.
You probably know that SDSU offers the broadest and most competitive academic program in the state, with more than 200 majors, minors, and specializations. You may have heard that students in every major can launch hard-core research quickly—some as early as freshman year—and that many do that in our new science complex with 63 state-of-the-art labs and classrooms. You may even know that internships and study abroad opportunities take our students across the country and around the world.
SDSU is dedicated to serving the citizens of South Dakota, but we appreciate the importance of attracting a diverse student body. We actively encourage students from all over the country (and world, too) to apply. Our tremendous range of academic offerings (more than 200 majors, minors, and other programs) holds something for everyone. And our tuition and financial aid make SDSU a remarkable value. We invite all prospective students and their families to visit campus to discover first-hand what makes SDSU special.
Athletic Information
“Go Big. Go Blue. Go Jacks.” This call is resonating across South Dakota and beyond.

Whether it is our women’s basketball team winning the Summit League Championship and making an appearance in the Big Dance, the football’s team continuing excellence in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, or the women’s soccer and volleyball teams participating in a Division I postseason championship, our calling card is a relentless dedication to excellence.
Cheer on the Jacks in Frost Arena at a Division I basketball game or join a pick-up game in the new Wellness Center. Scoop up some homemade ice cream at the Dairy Bar or grab a cuppa joe at one of three Java City coffee shops on campus. Indulge your sophisticated side with a symphonic concert at the Performing Arts Center or shoot some pool in Jacks Place.

Or, if you just want to chill, curl up in front of the fire with a good book at the Union. That’s our student center—the “living room” of campus—and it just got a $10 million extreme makeover.
