Domestic Student Insurance
The South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) does not offer a student health insurance plan.
The below information provides options for attaining health insurance if needed.
The health insurance marketplace website, www.healthcare.gov,
has interactive tools that will assist you
in finding an insurance plan that meets your coverage needs
and will help you determine if your income
level qualifies you for a subsidy. The state of South Dakota
has three providers available in the health
insurance marketplace, including: Avera Health Plans,
Sanford Health Plan and DakotaCare.

You will qualify for a special enrollment period if you have one of the following qualifying events:
- Marriage or divorce
- Having a baby, adopting a child, or placing a child for adoption or foster care
- Moving your residence, gaining citizenship, leaving incarceration
- Losing other health coverage
