SUPERINTENDENT APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN FOR THE SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED
PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Board of Regents is inviting applications for the position of superintendent for the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
The South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a K-12 accredited school by the South Dakota Department of Education located in Aberdeen, SD. It supports children with vision loss and provides access to educational resources to prepare students for life.
"The school has a long-proven commitment for developing and using the best instructional practices and accommodations to educate students who are blind and visually impaired," said BOR Executive Director Dr. Brian Maher. "The superintendent will be a strong advocate for the blind and visually impaired community and K-12 education."
The South Dakota Board of Regents is the constitutional governing body for the state's two special schools, South Dakota School for the Blind & Visually Impaired and South Dakota School for the Deaf, and six public universities, Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, South Dakota State University, University of South Dakota.
The next superintendent will succeed Dan Trefz, who announced his departure last month.
