Board of Regents to Meet At SDSMT in Rapid City, October 8 and 9 Will Host Governor Janklows Faculty Awards
Press Briefing to Precede Governors Appearance at Faculty Demonstration
PIERREThe South Dakota Board of Regents will meet for its regular business meeting on October 8 and 9, 1998, at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. On Thursday, October 8, the Regents will host Governor Bill Janklow at the Faculty Awards for Teaching with Technology Demonstration from 12:30 to 5:00 PM, MDT. Both the Board meeting and the demonstration are open to the public.
The Board will meet in open session beginning at 10:00 AM in the West Bump Room of the Surbeck Center on the campus of SDSMT, 501 East St. Joseph Street, Rapid City. Faculty of South Dakota public universities, who won competitive grants to redesign courses for applications of technology, will be displaying their work beginning at 12:30 PM in the Ballroom of the Surbeck Center. Governor Janklow is expected to arrive at 2:00 to tour the exhibit and discuss their projects with the faculty winners. He will address the Regents, faculty winners, and the public beginning at approximately 2:30 MDT. Following his remarks a panel of faculty award winners will discuss their projects and the use of technology in higher education. Both Governor Janklows speech and the panel discussion will be carried live over RDTN at the studios on the university campuses and over the Internet at http://www.hpcnet.org/SDEdNet. To view the live webcast, it is recommended that viewers have a Pentium class computer with multimedia capability and a High Color or True Color video card. The Regents will reconvene in open session on Friday, October 9 at 9:30 AM in the Ballroom.
