For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 2, 2003 Area Lawmakers Host Board of Regents at Sioux Falls SIOUX FALLS - A town meeting on South Dakota public higher education is being hosted Monday, Dec. 15, at USDSU in Sioux Falls by state lawmakers from districts 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in room 177 at USDSU, located at 2205 Career Drive. Representatives of the South Dakota Board of Regents, its staff, and public university presidents will be on hand to visit with area residents. Demographic shifts occurring across South Dakota mean fewer traditional college-age students in the future, along with more non-traditional students and a significant increase in South Dakota's older populations. Local legislators, who extended the invitation to the Regents to meet in Sioux Falls, said the ideas exchanged at this meeting would help South Dakota's public higher education system better plan for the future. -30- |
