For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 16, 2003 District 31 Lawmakers Host Board of Regents at Spearfish SPEARFISH - A town meeting on South Dakota public higher education is being hosted Thursday, Oct. 30, on the Black Hills State University campus by state lawmakers from District 31. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in room 128 of the Clare & Josef Meier Hall. Representatives of the South Dakota Board of Regents, its staff, and public university presidents will be on hand to visit with area residents. Demographic shifts occurring across South Dakota mean fewer traditional college-age students in the future, along with more non-traditional students and a significant increase in South Dakota's older populations. Local legislators, who extended the invitation to the Regents to meet in Spearfish, said the ideas exchanged at this meeting would help South Dakota's public higher education system better plan for the future. -30- |
