Area Lawmakers Host Board of Regents at Watertown WATERTOWN - A town meeting on South Dakota public higher education is being hosted Monday, Oct. 27, at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown by state lawmakers from districts 4, 5, and 6. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in room 507 of LATIs Technical Education Center Building. Representatives of the South Dakota Board of Regents, its staff, and public university presidents will be on hand to visit with area residents. Demographic shifts occurring across South Dakota mean fewer traditional college-age students in the future, along with more non-traditional students and a significant increase in South Dakotas older populations. Local legislators, who extended the invitation to the Regents to meet in Watertown, said the ideas exchanged at this meeting would help South Dakotas public higher education system better plan for the future. -30-
