of the Governor Gov. Rounds names Carole Pagones to Board of Regents PIERRE - Governor Mike Rounds has named Carole Pagones of Sioux Falls to serve on the South Dakota Board of Regents. Pagones' appointment begins April 1. "Carole has worked for state and county governments, as a teacher, and with local business groups," Gov. Mike Rounds said. "That type of broad public policy, education, and business experience will be a valuable asset to the Board of Regents." The South Dakota Board of Regents is the constitutional governing board for South Dakota's six public universities and two special schools. Pagones has worked for Main Street Sioux Falls for more than for 12 ½ years, 12 of those as its executive director. She is currently the development director for the non-profit corporation, which works to enhance the vitality of downtown Sioux Falls through promotions, design, economic development, and public relations. A native of Watertown, Pagones graduated from high school there. She has an undergraduate degree and has completed graduate coursework, both from Northern State University. She also holds a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo, Mich. Her professional background includes five years as a high school teacher of speech, English, and debate. She also has public-sector government experience in South Dakota, Texas, and Illinois, and prior to coming to Sioux Falls was the director of research for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Pagones replaces Curt Jones of Britton, whose term on the Board of Regents ends March 31. -30- |
