Gov. Rounds appoints Brookings resident to Board of Regents PIERRE - Gov. Mike Rounds has appointed Dean M. Krogman of Brookings to the South Dakota Board of Regents. "Dean brings considerable experience in the private and public sectors to this position," Gov. Rounds said. "His professional background includes working in the Brookings school system, serving as a state legislator, and operating his own business. These qualities will serve him well on a board that administers higher education in South Dakota." The South Dakota Board of Regents is the constitutional governing board for South Dakota's six public universities and two special schools. Since 1993, Krogman has been government affairs director for the South Dakota State Medical Association. He previously served from 1984 to 1989 as a state representative in the South Dakota Legislature representing Brookings County. He is broker/owner of Borchardt, Krogman & Associates Realty in Brookings, and also held management positions in wholesale financing and banking. He worked for the Brookings School District for four years as a counselor, administrator, and assistant coach, and was a member of the Brookings School Board from 1979 to 1981. A native of Lismore, Minn., and a graduate of Adrian (Minn.) High School, Krogman holds two degrees from South Dakota State University-a B.S. degree in psychology and a master's degree in guidance and counseling. He is also a member of the Jackrabbit Sports Hall of Fame at SDSU, where he was recognized for earning All-America honors in baseball and honorable mention All-America recognition in football during his collegiate career. Mr. Krogman and his wife Linda have three grown sons. Krogman begins serving on the Board of Regents April 1, 2003. He replaces Jack Rentschler of Sioux Falls, whose term expires March 31.
