For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 Board of Regents Announce New Hires for PIERRE The South Dakota Board of Regents announces that Shelly Anderson is the Boards new internal auditor, while Janice K. Price has been hired as human resources director. Both of these positions are critical to the efficient management of public higher education and the special schools in South Dakota, Robert T. Tad Perry, the Regents executive director said. With their considerable experience in the public and private sectors, Shelly and Janice bring a fresh perspective to South Dakotas regental system. We look forward to making the most of their knowledge and skills. Anderson, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, comes to the Board of Regents with nearly 17 years of auditing experience. She spent almost 15 years with the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit and two years working for a public CPA firm. At the Legislative Audit department, Anderson was auditor-in-charge of various agency audits, including performance and special purpose audits. She holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration, with a major in accounting, from the University of South Dakota. Price has worked in the human resources field since 1996, with management experience in both the public and private sectors. Her professional background includes work in human resource and labor management, as well as compensation and job design, and she has conducted professional seminars on human resources topics. Price is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. She holds a B.S. degree in psychology and a masters degree in industrial management, both from South Dakota State University. The appointments fill vacancies on the Boards senior management team, which reports to the executive director in Pierre. Anderson replaces Sheila Gestring, who resigned to become chief financial officer at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, Mont. Price fills a position vacated when David Hanson became director of administrative services at the South Dakota School for the Deaf last year. -30- |
