USDSU EXPERIENCES PHENOMENAL GROWTH ON NEW CAMPUS
(Sioux Falls, SD) USDSU has much to celebrate on the first anniversary in its new location. The unique partnership between the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University and Dakota State University has experienced tremendous growth since it moved to its new building in January 2001. The location, on the Southeast Technical Institute campus in north Sioux Falls, has allowed the universities to enroll more students and to increase course offerings.
The number of class sections has grown dramatically in this first year, with the Spring Semester including a total of 200 different sections for students to choose from. The number of students at USDSU grew to about 1,400 individuals, and credit hours delivered also increased by over 40% over the same one-year period.
The expansion of enrollment and curriculum allows USDSU to accomplish its stated goal: to provide higher education opportunities to individuals who live and work in the Sioux Falls area. This tremendous benefit to Sioux Falls provides a vital alternative for students who want to pursue a degree and cannot afford to travel or attend a private university.
Mark Lee, Executive Dean for USDSU, anticipates similar expansion in the future. "We expect growth to continue as class options are added and as more programs are delivered at USDSU. Our goal is to serve individual students and the business, health care, education and other organizations that weave the intricate fabric of the Sioux Falls economy."
USDSU offers associate, bachelors and masters level degrees that support local citizens and organizations. For more information, contact Mark Lee at 367-5640 or mark.lee@usdsu.sdbor.edu.
