Higher Education Policy in the News:


December 5, 2013 – A new study conducted by the South Dakota Board of Regents finds that the state’s long-term economic health soon may be threatened by a shortage of qualified workers. The study further demonstrates the importance of graduating more South Dakotans with postsecondary degrees to meet that need.

December 5, 2013 -- A new report takes a look at the college-going challenges faced by American Indian students in South Dakota, and recommends specific strategies to support those students and ensure their success in postsecondary education.

October 9, 2013 -- Nearly 22,000 students enrolled in a distance education course last year at South Dakota public universities. A new report presented to the South Dakota Board of Regents shows the popularity of distance education continues to grow, although the rate of growth slowed somewhat.

September 24, 2013 Enrollment at South Dakota’s six public universities remained stable again this fall, the South Dakota Board of Regents reported today. The number of full-time equivalent students being served was up by 313, while headcount enrollment was down only slightly.
