| Chair Randy Morris
|
Randall K. Morris, holds a B.A. from North Dakota State University and an M. A. from Black Hills State University. Executive Director of the Black Hills Special Services Cooperative, Morris was appointed by Governor Janklow in 2001. The former assistant director of special education with the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs, Morris has served on the boards of South Dakota Regional Economic Development, West River Business Service Center, School Administrators of South Dakota, and the Governor’s Citizens’ Education Review Panel. |

| Richard Belatti
|
Richard G. Belatti, earned a B.S. degree from the College of St. Thomas, a B S. in medicine from the University of South Dakota, and an M.D. from Creighton University. Dr. Belatti is retired from the practice of anesthesia at Sioux Valley Hospital. He now lives in Madison, where he had practiced family medicine for many years. He served in both chambers of the South Dakota Legislature-from 1989 to 1992 representing Minnehaha County in the state Senate and from 1995 to 1998 as a state representative from Lake County. He is also a former Madison school board member. He is active in Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. |

| Kathryn Johnson |
Kathryn Johnson is the owner
of Johnson Environmental Concepts of Rapid City . She holds a B.S. in
chemistry from Black Hills State University , an M.S. in chemistry from
Iowa State University , and a Ph.D. in geology from South Dakota School
of Mines and Technology. She was appointed to the Board of Regents March
31, 2005, by Governor Rounds. She currently serves on the 2010 Research
& Commercialization Council. She was federally appointed to the
Congressional Commission on the Advancement of Women and Minorities
in Science, Engineering and Technology, and is a member of the National
Research Council Committee on Women in Science & Engineering. She
was a 1997 Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow and is a member of the
American Chemical Society, Geochemical and Environmental Sections; South
Dakota Association of Environmental Professionals; and the Environmental
Assessment Association. |

| Harvey Jewett
|
Harvey C. Jewett, earned a B.A. and a J.D. from the University of South Dakota (USD). He is currently president and chief operating officer of The Rivett Group, L.L.C.; a partner in the law firm of Siegel, Barnett, and Schutz. Jewett has served on the boards of the Education Assistance Corporation, Student Loan Finance Corporation, the USD Law School Foundation, Great Plains Education Foundation, Norwest Bank, South Dakota, Children’s Home Society, and Super 8 Motels, Inc. He serves as chair of the Audit Committee of St. John’s University and College of St. Benedict. Appointed in 1997 by Governor Janklow and reappointed by Governor Rounds in 2005, his term will expire in 2011. |

| Tad Perry
|
Robert T. Tad Perry, was named Executive Director of the South Dakota Board of Regents in 1994. Perry previously served as the chief operating officer of Indiana’s Partnership for Statewide Education. He concluded his twenty-three year career at Ball State University as a Professor of Political Science and Associate Vice President (1987-1994). Perry graduated from Central Methodist University [MO] where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. He received an M. A. and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Currently, he serves as Chair of the State Higher Education Executive Officers, as Treasurer of the National Association of System Heads, on the Steering Committee of the Education Commission of the State, as chair of the Policies and Purpose Committee of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and as a member of the Research Advisory Committee for Lumina Foundation. He is a former chair of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. |

Mary Turman, Board of Regents Administrative Assistant and Secretary to the Board, Pierre, has served the Board of Regents for 34 years. Turman has served seven Executive Directors. She attended South Dakota State University. |

Elaine H. Hairston, senior
consultant, joined Academic Search after completing eight years of leadership
as chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents. Dr. Hairston has focused
on public state assisted universities and systems in her search work.
Her recent searches for president have included The University of Utah,
The University of Toledo, Shawnee State University, Western Oregon University,
and the State University of New York-Farmingdale. Dr. Hairston’s
over 30 years of system and senior university leadership experience
provides broad and deep knowledge of outstanding presidential prospects. |

|
Randall Hamburg is the senior
vice president at Wells Fargo Bank in Rapid City. He has worked in banking
for 25 years, 17 of which has been with Wells Fargo. Hamburg earned
his B.S. in business administration from the University of South Dakota.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rapid City Area
Chamber of Commerce and the Rapid City Economic Development Foundation.

Randy Parcel graduated from SDSMT with a B.S. in mining engineering and received his J.D. from Northwestern University 's School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Parcel's practice is devoted exclusively to natural resources law, and he is an internationally recognized expert in the field of mining law and mineral transactions. |

Pearson |
Larry Pearson graduated from SDSMT in 1972 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After building an experienced career in the natural gas industry, Larry joined Tenaska, one of the largest independent power producers in the United States, and at this time is the president and CEO of the Operations Group. Larry’s service to SDSMT spans three decades. He has served as alumni president, national leader in the Vision 2000 Capital Campaign, and currently is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for Mechanical Engineering. |

Julie Smoragiewicz earned a B.A. in psychology and M. Ed. in counselor education from the University of Toledo , where she served as an admissions administrator for a decade. She came to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in December of 1994, where she currently serves as vice president for University and Public Relations.

|
Richard MacDonald is a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant. Post retirement from the Air Force MacDonald finished his B.S. degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical College in Daytona Beach , Florida . He has been employed at the School of Mines since March of 1997 in the area of information technology.

Terry Lauritsen is the controller and director of administrative services at SDSMT. Lauritsen is a CPA with master's degree in accountancy. She has been employed at the university since March 2007. Her prior experience includes controller in private industry, financial manager for Sarasota County Government, and human resources director for a chain of automotive dealerships. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida .

Dr. Sidney Goss, SDSMT sociology
professor, has served the university for over three decades. He has
held numerous positions including: department chair, dean, director
and assistant to the vice president for academic affairs. His research
interests in sociology are demography and family studies. Goss is active

Dr. Jon Kellar is the chair and professor of materials and metallurgical engineering at SDSMT. He has been employed at SDSMT for 17 years, rising from the rank of assistant professor to professor. He has earned numerous awards and citations including NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow, South Dakota Board of Regents Award for Excellence in Research, and the SDSMT Presidential Outstanding Professor. |

Melanie Satchell is the current Student Association president at SDSMT. Satchell has served as a member of the Student Association Senate since her freshman year at the university. Having worked with Dr. Ruch during his presidency she feels she has a good idea what the vision is for the SDSMT campus.

Brady Wiesner is currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering at SDSMT. He considers himself a very outgoing and responsible student leader at the School of Mines . | Ray Hillenbrand
|
Ray Hillenbrand graduated from Dennison University in Granville , Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy , New York with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He has been involved with Hillenbrand Industries, Inc. (a NYSE company) for most of his adult career and just recently stepped down as Chairman of the Board of that company. He has lived in Rapid City , SD , since 1980 and has interests in the Triple Seven Ranch, at Hermosa, Prairie Edge, in Rapid City , is past Chairman of the Board of the Rapid City YMCA and Rushmore Health Systems ( Rapid City Regional Hospital ) and was an original member of Governor Mickelson's Redi Fund Committee. |
