SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Construction
will start soon in northwest Sioux Falls on a permanent location
for the state's public university system, where students can take
classes offered by the six South Dakota public universities. Two
bills signed March 9 by Gov. Mike Rounds contained emergency language
that immediately enacted them into law. One of the new laws allows
the Board of Regents to spend a $5.8 million grant from Great Plains
Education Foundation to buy a 263-acre tract of land near Interstate
29. The second law provides $8 million in state funds for construction
of a classroom building on the site.
