Northern
State Brings Graduate Programs to Local Areas
Northern State University
will bring two of its graduate-degree programs in education to communities
in north central South Dakota, as part of the state’s focus on
increasing the number of teachers with advanced degrees.

Student organizations from
the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Black Hills State
University were recognized for their outstanding academic, community,
and organizational work by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

Degree Programs in Architecture, Health Informatics Considered
The South Dakota Board of
Regents has given officials at South Dakota State University and Dakota
State University permission to begin planning for new graduate degrees
in architecture and health informatics.

The South Dakota Board of
Regents today authorized new degree programs at three state universities
in response to workforce development needs, all without requesting additional
state resources to support the programs.

Record Enrollment for South Dakota Public Universities
Building on an 11-year trend
of increased enrollments, South Dakota’s public
universities this fall posted another record-high number, the South
Dakota Board of Regents announced Wednesday. Total student enrollment
is up nearly 2.5 percent to 32,943.

Dakota Public Universities on Board with College Portrait
All six public universities
in South Dakota have joined in a national effort to deliver common data
and information to prospective students and their families. College
Portrait,
a new Web-based information tool, was introduced across the nation today,
and will become a visible part of each South Dakota public university’s
web site.

A North Dakotan with extensive
experience in public- and private-sector research, as well as the academic
world, will join the South Dakota Board of Regents as its system vice
president of research.
