Faculty Recognized for Excellence in Distance Instruction
Four faculty members and a
staff support professional from South Dakota’s public university
system have earned recognition from the South Dakota Board for Regents
for delivering quality instruction by distance.

The South Dakota Board of
Regents, meeting at Northern State University, gave awards to three
student organizations from NSU.
Search
Begins for Next School for the Deaf Superintendent
The South Dakota Board of
Regents has begun its search to find the next superintendent of the
South Dakota School for the Deaf. Supt. Maureen Schloss, who has headed
the Sioux Falls-based school for the past three years, is returning
to her faculty position at Northern State University this fall.

Approve Study of Educational Services to Blind and Visually Impaired
Children
At its regular business meeting
on the Northern State University campus, the Board of Regents approved
a study that will look at the educational services available to blind
and visually impaired children in South Dakota.

USD Certificate Program Attractive to Tech School Graduates
A new 12-hour certificate
program approved for delivery at The University of South Dakota has
been designed to appeal especially to graduates from two-year programs
in computer-aided drafting. A South Dakota Board of Regents’ academic
committee approved the certificate in Drafting for the Entertainment
Industry through the university’s College of Fine Arts.

Student Wins Scarborough Scholarship
Amery Kuhl, a mechanical engineering
and physics major at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, has
been awarded the Marlin R. Scarborough Scholarship by the South Dakota
Board of Regents.

Students Win Fowler-Kaden Memorial Scholarship
The South Dakota Board of
Regents awarded the 2007-2008 Annis Irene Fowler-Kaden Scholarship to
two South Dakota high school students. The recipients, Kendra Titze
and Shanna Wilson, will each receive a $1,000 award.

Student Wins Haines Scholarships
Troy Husen has been awarded
a $2,150 Haines Scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year by the South
Dakota Board of Regents.
Two
High School Seniors Awarded Bjugstad Scholarship
Charles Moe, Jr., a senior
at Todd County High School, and Jordan Murray, a senior at Dupree High
School, have both been awarded a $500 Bjugstad Scholarship for the 2007-08
academic year by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
