Academic Standard is High for Public University Athletes

According to the latest report on the performance of student athletes in South Dakota’s public university system, athletes perform as well or better than non-athletes in most areas.

Leadership Program in Planning Stages

Plans are being developed at Black Hills State University for a new graduate-degree program that emphasizes leadership. BHSU asked the South Dakota Board of Regents for permission to plan for a new master’s degree in strategic leadership.

National Survey Gathers Information on Student Experiences

The South Dakota Board of Regents heard a report on the results of a national survey used to assess student engagement in a variety of educational practices inside and outside of the classroom associated with student satisfaction, persistence, and graduation rates.

Board Adjusts Tuition and Mandatory Fees for 2007-08

The average undergraduate student at one of South Dakota’s six public universities will pay 6.3 percent more in tuition and mandatory fees next fall. The South Dakota Board of Regents set the rates for the academic year beginning this summer.

South Dakota Sees Annual Increases In R&D Federal Funding

The most recent National Science Foundation (NSF) reports published rank South Dakota sixth nationally for highest annual percentage increase in their federal research and development (R&D) funding. Since 1997, South Dakota has seen a 152% increase in federal R&D funding, with a noticeable 59% increase between 2002 and 2004.
