2010 Centers Advance Research Opportunities

Sixteen months after their inception, South Dakota’s four 2010 research centers are reporting a $21.4 million economic impact from a state investment of $2.8 million.


Regents Recognize USD Student Groups

Student-led organizations at the University of South Dakota were recognized by the South Dakota Board of Regents for academic excellence, community service, and leadership.

849 Opportunity Scholarships Awarded

Slightly more than 8 percent of South Dakota’s high school graduates from last spring have qualified for the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship, a state-funded scholarship worth up to $5,000 over four years.

Regents Plan New Academic Programs

The South Dakota Board of Regents approved plans by South Dakota State University to offer a new minor in statistics at both the master’s and doctoral level, aimed at helping students gain an advantage in the job market.

Non-Resident Tuition Rates Adjusted Downward

The South Dakota Board of Regents agreed to lower nonresident tuition rates for first-time freshmen and new transfer students to 150 percent of in-state rates starting next summer. The move seeks to make a South Dakota public university education more attractive to regional and international students.

Regents and Technical Institutes Reach Nearly 100 Transfer Agreements

An additional 15 articulation agreements between South Dakota’s public universities and the state’s technical institutes were approved today by the South Dakota Board of Regents. Previously, the Board of Regents and the Board of Education had approved 80 agreements; the additional 15 will bring the total to 95 agreements.
