Craft FY06 Budget Request
The South Dakota Board of Regents has identified four ongoing funding
priorities in its FY06 budget request, which will be submitted to Gov.
Mike Rounds. The regents will request $155.3 million in state general
funds next year, a $7 million increase, or 4.8 percent, over the current
year’s budget.

Announce Leadership Changes at School for the Deaf
Harvey C. Jewett, president
of the South Dakota Board of Regents, announced several changes in leadership
for the fall semester at the South Dakota School for the Deaf.

Exam Results Show SD Students Exceed National Norms
Students at South Dakota public
universities as a whole score higher on measures of writing skills,
mathematics, reading, and science reasoning than their counterparts
at other four-year public institutions.

Research and Commercialization Council approves grants
Gov. Mike Rounds announced that four university-based research centers
will be funded by nearly $2.8 million in state funds in a first-ever
initiative aimed at growing the state's economy by targeting investments
in specialized research at South Dakota public universities.
