Regents Receive Report on CUC Merger Status
The Board of Regents directed the committee investigating merger options between the Board of Regents and the Capital University Center (CUC) in Pierre to continue its work and provide a more detailed report at the October meeting of the Board. South Dakota's public universities currently collaborate to provide courses and degree programs to citizens in the Pierre area through CUC. The possible merger would entail management and oversight changes. Dr. Robert T. Tad Perry Executive Director of the Board of Regents said that, "The university presidents and CUC staff have been working hard to improve the educational opportunities in the Pierre area and their work is a good beginning to ensuring the continued accessibility to higher education." A committee appointed by the Board is working with CUC and Board staff to develop a merger process that will improve the delivery of higher educational services in the Pierre area.
