Board of Regents Awards Scarborough Scholarship


PIERRE, SD-Today the Board of Regents announced that Dustin Johnson of Pierre is the winner of the Scarborough Scholarship. Johnson, studying political science and history, was nominated for the award by the University of South Dakota where Johnson is currently enrolled as a sophomore.

The scholarship is awarded to a South Dakota native attending one the state's six public universities. The $1,500 award was established in memory of Marlin Scarborough, who was President of the Board of Regents at the time of his death.

Johnson, who will be a junior in the fall, has a 4.0 GPA and is involved with the USD campus newspaper, College Republicans, USD Student Association, Phi Delta Theta, intramural athletics, and the Political Science League. Johnson also graduated first of his class from T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre.
