USDSU Administrator Receives Regional Business Award

PIERRE - The executive dean of USDSU in Sioux Falls has received a 13-state regional award recognizing his service and leadership in university business affairs.

Mark Lee was recognized by the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO) with its President's Award. It is given to a CACUBO member who makes outstanding contributions to the professional organization over a sustained period.

"With this award, Mark's colleagues have recognized his ongoing efforts to enhance the university business officials' profession," said Tad Perry, executive director of the South Dakota Board of Regents. "We are fortunate to have his leadership here in South Dakota on behalf of the state's public university system."

Lee has been the lead administrator at the Sioux Falls public higher education center since October 2001. He is responsible for the development and operation of USDSU as a partnership of the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, and Dakota State University, offering public university courses in Sioux Falls.

He has been active in CACUBO for 13 years, serving as an adviser and committee chair for the Collegiate Management Institute, a leadership development program for college and university administrators. CACUBO members represent both public and private higher education institutions, ranging from community colleges and small independent colleges to public universities and large research institutions.

Lee started his career at Dakota State University in 1984 and was vice president of administration and university advancement at the Madison campus before coming to USDSU. He holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of South Dakota and is pursuing a doctorate in adult and higher education administration from USD.
