The Board of Regents is pleased to announce the availability of financial awards for paraprofessionals who choose to pursue academic coursework in order to establish highly qualified status for the No Child Left Behind Act . Funds from the Department of Education and Board of Regents Teacher Quality Enhancement Project, EveryTeacher, have been designated to support the professional development of paraprofessionals through the completion of academic coursework leading to an associates degree or to the required two years/48 credits of postsecondary education.

This award can ONLY be applied towards course work at South Dakota's six public universities.  The award cannot be applied towards coursework that is already subsidized with reduced tuition (Board of Regents externally funded tuition rate).

South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City
South Dakota State University in Brookings
The University of South Dakota in Vermillion


All of South Dakota's public universities offer distance course work through the Electronic University Consortium of South Dakota (EUC) In addition, the AS degree in paraprofessional education is available as a distance program through EUC.

EveryTeacher is funded by the US Department of Education. It is a collaborative grant between the South Dakota Department of Education, the South Dakota Board of Regents, and South Dakota’s Technology and Innovation in Education (TIE).
