Introduction:
The Educational Specialist in Technology for Education and Training (TET) degree is offered from The University of South Dakota (USD). This degree prepares individuals to become capable consumers, producers, and managers of educational technology resources. The TET degree is available via several delivery methods.
Program Description: The specialist's degree (Ed.S.) in Technology for Education and Training (TET) serves as an extension of the master's program. Advanced techniques in design and production course work are essential at this level of study. The administrative roles inherent in the systematic integration of technology in curricula for the improvement of teaching and learning are also emphasized. Key issues focus on personnel management, funding, the learning environment, curriculum development, evaluation and decisions relative to resource allocation.
Program Admission Requirements:

-Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
-Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
-Graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher if candidate hold M.A./M.S. from an accredited institution
-GRE score of 900 or above (score is total of verbal and quantitative)
-TOEFL score of at least 550 (if applicable)
-3 satisfactory letters of recommendation
-Statement of goals and philosophy

Expected Outcomes from Degree:
The Specialist degree program in TET (36 hours beyond the Master's degree) is designed to prepare leaders who will be able to:
• make decisions about the appropriateness of using different instructional technologies for learning in school and business settings;
• promote the systematic use of technology, access to information resources, and the development of multimedia learning systems;
• develop advanced technological skills in the use of hardware and contemporary software packages;
• apply learning theories to integrate information into the development or educational curricula and training materials;
• provide service and professional consultation on the most efficient and effective learning models as enhanced by technology;
• provide leadership in promoting educational and organizational change, especially as it relates to the use of technology;
• assess and analyze uses of technology in instruction, especially in the use of distance learning or other emerging educational and training methodologies;
• recommend improvements for organizational functioning through use of technology and other innovations;
• conduct assessments to survey technological, educational, and training;
• instruct others in use of technology-based tools appropriate for educational
and training purposes; and
• demonstrate administrative leadership and skills in the direction of educational
and training programs.
