Browser Requirements
Figure 1. Internet Explorer Security Alert
The web browser used must support Secure Socket Layer ("SSL").
SSL is a technology used to encrypt the contents of data transferred
between your computer and the host machine.
After clicking the "Login" button, you may receive a message regarding
"Security Certificate". This web site uses certificates to
perform the SSL encryption. You will need to accept the certificate
in order to properly login.
The browser also must support integrated Windows authentication. Most of
today's popular browsers support this authentication mode. The examples
used on this web site are of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.0 or greater, Netscape Navigator v7.0 or
greater and Mozilla Firefox v1.0 or greater are known to work properly.
Figure 2. Internet Explorer Login
The login process requires you to identify yourself. The information is used
to ensure you are an authorized user and grants you the appropriate permissions to
the system.
After clicking the "Login" button, you will be asked for your user name and password
(Figure 2). Your user name is all letters/numbers in your email address preceding the
"@" symbol (ex. johndoe@sdbor.edu), followed by "@ris"
(ex. johndoe@ris). A complete example of a username is
johndoe@ris
Some exceptions do exist when users outside of the Board of Regents Office attempt
to login. For example, a user attempting to login who is a member of USD will
require a slight variation in their user name.
All passwords are the same as what is used for logging into your workstation and
Outlook email.
