Higher education provides students with many career opportunities. The Board is part of the Workforce 2025 initiative with the departments of Labor, Tourism and State Development, and Education. The agencies are working together to retain young people in the state and assist employers.

  • University Career Planning and Placement Centers The career planning centers are the point of contact for employers who want to recruit students for full-time positions, co-op experiences, and internships. The careers centers assist students with career selection, maintain student credentials that employers can examine remotely, and schedule interviews on campus.

Grow Dakota: An effort to prepare students to enter the workforce .

  • collegeprep.com The Board provides information to parents and students about college preparation and costs.
  • SD Opportunity Scholarship The curriculum required for the scholarship provides preparation for the postsecondary education needed for many careers, including those in healthcare, sciences, engineering, and technology.
  • http://www.flexfactor.info Flexfactor makes it easy to determine how many South Dakota postsecondary technical institute credits will transfer to a public university.
  • Degrees Conferred, Public Universities - associate, bachelor's graduate and professional degrees, five years.

Build Dakota: An effort to assess the workforce needs of industries statewide.

  • New Programs and Sites The Board routinely approves new degree programs and authorizes off-campus delivery of programs to assist students with career preparation.
  • Healthcare The Board participates in the Healthcare Workforce Initiative with the Departments of Health, Labor and Education. The link provides university healthcare programs and a report graduates over five years.

 

Dakota Seeds: An effort to increase the number of internships and assistantships ( www.dakotaseeds.com ).
