recipients within the Regents Human Resources. All of these
past winners are dedicated to the advancement of the human resource
profession.
Exemplary
Service and Innovation Award
| Janice
Price, director of human resources for the Board of Regents,
has been rewarded for her idea on how to save the state and
its employees money. The state of South Dakota
has an employee innovation awards program for the executive
branch. Price was rewarded under a similar program established
by the regents. The program is designed to give employees
the opportunity and the incentive to share ideas to help provide
the state with significant cost savings, enhanced services,
safer operations, and improved processes. Click

Outstanding
Service Award
Recipient:
Karon
Fuller, University
of South Dakota
Details:
Karon's
active participation in CUPA-HR has been critical to the success
of the MW region. She served as the South
Dakota state membership coordinator
from 1994-1999 and as membership director from 1999-2003. Through
her tireless efforts, Karon redefined the role of state membership
coordinator and assisted in redefining outreach activities for regional
newcomers. The fact that HR representatives from nine South
Dakota institutions of higher
learning nominated Karon for this award is a testament to the great
respect Karon has earned from her colleagues.
Outstanding
Recent Graduates Named
| Five alumni of the South Dakota School of Mines
& Technology (SDSM&T) were honored as recipients of
the 2004 Outstanding Recent Graduate Award during an Engineers
Week luncheon on Thursday, February 26, in the Surbeck Student
Center Ballroom. The Outstanding Recent Graduate Program honors
graduates who have achieved exemplary career progress and recognition
within ten years of their graduation. The program was originated
and is sponsored by the SDSM&T Alumni Association and the
SDSM&T Foundation. The individuals selected for this award
are considered excellent role models to show our current students
the importance of continued personal growth in a rapidly changing

Technology Award
Board of Regents:
Dakota State University HR Director Wins CUPA-HR Award (Press Release)
Nancy L. Grassel, director of
human resources at Dakota State University, is the recipient
of the College and University Professional Association for
Human Resources' 2003 SCT Technology Award for her design
and implementation of an interactive online orientation
